This is a new feature that will be open to all- women, men, and children!
I promise to not only feature baby Miles ![]()
Because I do get lots of questions on where to find “cool” baby clothing, I have decided to include children. I shop online a lot but have found great stuff at commercial retailers like Target, The Childrens Place, and Baby Gap.
Who: Milesy
Where: On my way to brunch at Loring Kitchen
Wear:
Gerber long sleeve onesie, Target
Bob’s Genuine Motor Oil Collared Shirt, Genuine Kids Brand Target
H&M Baby Pants
Minnetonka moccasins purchased at Pacifier
Hope you find this helpful. Let me know!
And if you want to be featured or have a little one you would like to feature, please do send pictures!

April Showers
April 26th, 2011 § 2 Comments
The Minneapolis forecast is gloomy today, but I am not letting that ruin my day. Not even being the victim of a drive-by splashing (I’m talking drenched!) while dropping my son off at daycare this morning has changed my outlook! Ok, maybe a little embarrassing to have this happen during morning rush hour traffic
.
Until these April showers bring May flowers, here’s a little fashion inspiration featuring Hunter boots. I know Hunter boots are not new on the fashion scene, but to me they will always qualify as chic rain gear. I could have used a pair this morning!

April 22nd, 2011 § 1 Comment
I’ve missed you all! I’ve missed the fashionlogue! My last post was 12/31/2010. No time for excuses. Let’s just “press” rewind and make up for the lost time! Let’s get reacquainted. Shall we?

Ummmmm……Oh Yeah…And Miles is
* CRAWLING
* Loves his Converse (he already has great taste!)
* Has turned into a total daddy’s boy
* AND just started his first day in daycare this week.
Baby is all grown-up! He told me yesterday that he is a big boy doing big boy things and not sure if we can hang out anymore.

That is the last few months in a nutshell.
I am looking forward to a fashionable return.
Going to start doing things a little differently here at the fashionlogue.
While the main focus will still be fashion, we will also include beauty, and design inspiration.
Look forward to a lot of short posts, which will include fashion and beauty reports, item of the week, the feature- a very fashionable baby (you know I had to fit baby somewhere in the picture), industry personal favorites, design inspiration, street inspiration, and local features especially focusing on our new neighborhood- Uptown Minneapolis!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
December 31st, 2010 § Leave a Comment
2010 has been an epic year for me! Welcoming baby Miles and adjusting to motherhood definitely tops the list. I don’t know what 2011 has in store for me yet, but I do know I will make the best of everything that comes my way!
My hope is to stay true to myself by continuing to dream and do the things I love (pre-baby) while also trying to be the best mother I can be to Miles. I will tell him to never stop dreaming and teach him that in this world anything is possible with hard work - a lesson I often have to remind myself of…..
Here’s to all of us dreaming big in 2011 and to all of our dreams coming true!
Thank you for reading My Inner Fashionlogue and following my journey!

new feature – a very fashionable baby
December 16th, 2010 § Leave a Comment
Ok, so I’ve had babies on the brain for quite sometime now and it does not look like it will let up anytime soon. I just wanna buy that little guy everything! And I’ve admittedly been known to go overboard at times. UGGS and Vans are necessities, right?
This is a new feature that spotlights a few of my (and Miles) favorite things and the stores where you can find them. I apologize in advance- none of the featured stores sell any I love mommy or daddy clothing
The first feature is on a store called aden + anais. I love this store for their muslin swaddles, and a piece of advice for expectant and new mommies, you can never own too many swaddles. I do not own any other brand of swaddles. I love these swaddles for their durability and extra-large size but mostly because of the hip designs that do not scream BABY.
I own the mela bamboo swaddles pictured above but have been eyeing these diwali bamboo swaddles for a while now. Ok- I am ordering them as I finish this post.
Aden + Anais also has a Target line, which I have tried and can say they are equally durable and great for everyday use.

Frequent Flyer
December 15th, 2010 § Leave a Comment
Our families are not from Minnesota, so we fly back and forth between Florida and Texas throughout the year. As a frequent flyer, I have mastered the art of carry-on only luggage (even with the addition of Baby Miles!) and know the importance of dressing comfortably. I look to style, comfort, and warmth for the plane ride. And now with a little one in tow, unfussy clothing (yet stylish- this will always be important!) is key.
As we head home to Florida for the Christmas Holiday, this outfit is perfect and not just because my uniform seems to always involve leggings! The drape turtleneck sweater is like wearing a blanket and the oxfords make the outfit current, interesting, and totally effortlessly chic. And the tote can double as a diaper bag for the plane ride where less is always more.
PS- it is never ok to wear a snuggie in public or in private for that matter!
gift idea- certified organic beauty for the eco-conscious
December 15th, 2010 § Leave a Comment
Looking for a gift Mother Nature approves? If so, Intelligent Nutrients is your answer and lucky for you, it is local. I recently discovered the Intelligent Nutrients health and beauty line when my long time ROCK STAR stylist and friend, Jeanne McCoy, accepted a new position as the Director of Salon, Educator, and Master Stylist at the Horst and Friends Salon which is housed in the Intelligent Nutrients Headquarters- located in Northeast Minneapolis.
I was drawn in by the certified organic stamp, but I was truly sold when after a few at home shampoos with my grocery store bought shampoo, I could still smell the Intelligent Nutrients destress oil and harmonic shampoo used during my haircut. Knowing that all ingredients are food grade, natural, and sustainable just makes you feel responsible about what you’re putting on your body.
The company’s vision is inspiring. I took this directly from the Intelligent Nutrients Website:

“Intelligent Nutrients practices true, scientific technology to create products that are truly sustainable, effective and a pleasure to use. What is the chemistry, energy, toxicity, nutritional value, medical integration—these considerations go into every product we make.
As consumers, we must cultivate and support a certified organic lifestyle and seek better alternatives.”A few weeks ago, I was lucky to be asked to be a “hair model” (the term model is being used VERY LOOSELY here!, but I felt so FAB for those few hours- total fabulosity!) to sample a new Intelligent Nutrients Shampoo Line not yet available in stores. I went home with full size goodies to sample. Here are a few of my favorites:

Destress Express Certified Organic Pure Essence Elixir, $40. I use this on skin, hair, and scalp. The scent is both refreshing and relaxing at the same time.
If after all this, you are still not convinced, then maybe you will take Gwyneth Paltrow’s word for it. She is fan and user of the Intelligent Nutrients line. It was featured on her blog, GOOP, here. I’m guessing right about now you feel like buying a few good-for-you gifts for yourself.
Get to know the line at the open house this evening where gift sets are available. Details below.

baby mama wardrobe drama
December 12th, 2010 § 1 Comment
No…no..this is not a Jerry Springer-esque baby daddy mama drama post. This one is for all the expectant mamas out there. I just went through my first pregnancy and everyday I wondered what the heck I was going to wear!! The buttons on my pre-pregnancy jeans were tight fast and nothing seemed to fit even in the first trimester. I found it difficult and frustrating to find maternity clothes that were fashionable and also flattered my growing belly. It was definitely a lot of trial and error!
Here’s what I learned:
- First and foremost, leggings are your best friend. I like non-maternity H&M leggings for their higher waist (they are good pre and post pregnancy).
- Embrace your new shape and opt for form fitting tops and dresses. Clothing that is too loose-fitting will just make you look frumpy and much larger.
- Try non maternity styles one size larger than your normal size in the first and second trimester. Juicy Couture for dresses, Urban Outfitters and Hot Mama (non maternity section) for tops, and parc boutique for tunics were brands/stores that worked for me.
- Gap Maternity has great basic dresses that you can wear over and over again- just restyle with new cardigans, jackets, shoes, scarfs, and jewelry
- Accesorize with statement rings and necklaces.
- No need to stash all your heels just choose more supportive styles like the wedge
- Full panel bottoms are a must in the last trimester. They provide comfort and much needed support in the last months. I liked A Pea in the Pod’s Secret Fit Belly bottoms.
- And lastly, don’t forget confidence is key! Feeling confident=Feeling good=Looking good! Staying active socially and physically helps a lot.
A few tried and true favorites:

via dakotacollective.com, also available at parc boutique. I recently purchased this tunic from Parc Boutique in a bronze tone. Purchase one size larger and pair with leggings or textured tights and lace-up boots or ankle booties for the perfect fall maternity or non-maternity look.

Me in the BB Dakota tunic (purchased at Parc Boutique) pictured above post pregnancy. The loose, flowing silhouette is perfect for my post-pregnancy bod. I will get my pre-pregnancy body back-- slowly but surely is my motto!

Any of the Spanx bra-llelujah line bras are hands down the most comfortable bra line that I discovered during pregnancy but are great pregnant or not. The bra line is available at Hot Mama and online at spanx.com

The Tummy Sleeve by Maternity Motherhood allows you to wear your pre-maternity jeans longer. A definite must!
A few maternity favorites:

via gap.com, slim cropped pants look chic and work appropriate paired with heels, silky top, and cardigan or boyfriend jacket

Maternity style perfect for the many holiday gatherings and the lace-up boots make the style current and fashion forward, Ann Taylor Loft
And lastly, a great example of maternity chic:

Chic While Home for the Holidays
December 11th, 2010 § Leave a Comment
The perfect “I just threw this together/not trying to hard” kinda outfit. It’s a little menswear inspired, a little rocker, and polished enough for casual holiday get togethers.
The clutch adds the perfect shot of color.
I just bought a similiar cardi on sale from j.crew, so I just may try and recreate this get up.
